a spread laid out before us

within their bloody piss-filled ditch

The deficits are growing
and red is all around us
it’s always sink or swim and die
The cradle lid comes down
a plaque is fixed upon it
but ours is not to question why
The gulf between is growing
no lifeboats to be found
and calling out for help
gives your position on the ground
Finding a way
to break through the mundanity
and get through the day, to try
Fighting for breath
while cloaked in the profanity
of greed’s masquerade
of another life

and sacrifice themselves instead
Fire from the heavens
scorches land below
While in their caves the mighty hide
not reaping what they’ve sown

Enter the Hellion
Men and boys are gathered
weapons thrust in hand
Showing solidarity
they march across the land
Women take their frontline
protecting village life
And in the sky, a piercing cry
comes screaming through the night

to put the past behind me

and hope the truth won’t find me
Familiar scent hangs in the air
Passing thoughts that go nowhere
And yet, I swear...

In the dark, I hear your cries
and I recall the pain in your eyes
your life alone
you carried on despite me

the hell behind your smile
If only I had felt your pain
With every word
with every look, with every sign

the black to grey

and steered vicariously to rule

Your destiny
I see a shape in the distance
Ripping the sky
yet shadows make its form
A piercing persistence
to take the throne, where I belong
Elements of persuasion
are slowly turning heads to me
Numbers building
One after one
dropping to their knees.

Eyes flicking all around
aware of all below
A nest sits on the highest ledge
its presence never known
A sudden distant movement
a shifting on the ground
he inches forward, taking stock
a breathy whisper chased by sound
Turning the tables, a paradigm shifts
the hunter now hunted as prey
Flouting convention
like dust in the wind
the hunter considers his prayers
Intuition breaking down
as instinct starts to slow
His chest pounds, taken to the edge
Such feelings never shown
Adrenaline floods the system
evoking fight or flight
he shifts position, slowing breaths
silence breaks for the final time
Turning the tables
a paradigm shifts
the hunter has fallen as prey
His misapprehension
now dust in the wind
the hunter the subject of prayers

The silence broken
by a million cracks of thunder
While darkness penetrates my eyes
At once, my senses shake me
from eternal slumber
I know not where I am, or why
Outside, a dust has risen
shadows growing endless.
Vague silhouettes are all I see
Scrambling around
I hear a voice cry in the distance
And realise that voice is me
Nobody hears, nobody’s seen
The silence is deafening
as the veil lifts between
The cries of sorrow
like a chorus from the heavens
Discordant howls break the reprise
An empty vessel
drawing crowds that bear confusion
Torn with fear
and falling to their knees
The screams in the night
as I hide from the light
The urges I feel
in this life, so unreal
The hands all around
clutching treasures they’ve found
The warnings I trust
like my soul, turn to dust

This album is awesome and a full 100% balls to the wall Blaze Bayley worship in a glorious way. You could easily misstake the vocalist for Blaze and the riffing is in the tru spirit of Maiden. The only problem I have is, do they do the Maiden sound better then Maiden does Maiden? Check them out!
